Why Don’t We Make Electronics Cabinets Out Of Wood?

The exception is speaker cabinets, where wood damps the vibration and adds density and sound.

I’m old enough to remember when electronics were covered in wood.  And when wood became veneer. And crappy.  Why don’t we make a lot of stuff out of wood?  Because it’s expensive and frankly wasteful.  A huge part of your raw material ends up as sawdust.  Add to that the inherent instability of wood and it doesn’t really work for electronics.
