Ransomware And Hospitals

Hospitals are a favorite target for ransomware spreaders. I suspect that for very good reasons they are almost certain to cave and for very bad reasons they tend to not be the greatest at computer security, so they are easy to penetrate and the risks are low.

Which  means that in their petty greed the extortionists are putting their desire for money above the lives of the patients in the hospitals and the communities they serve. I suppose that they think that the hospitals that they are targeting are not in their country or town and that they will not be affected.

The fact is that we are all affected by the small bit of shrinkage in our quality of life. In a hospital loss of data means the possibility of a lost life. including that of your favorite musician or other performing artists. As 2016 has demonstrated all too well.  So the random chaos of  ransomware hits everybody.
