No More Ransom

This is a post series on cyber crime. For more posts click here or the cybercrime tag below.

This is a sentiment that I can share.   This is a problem that is going downhill incredibly quickly.  Rather than diminishing, the problem is escalating.  Just read this twitter feed.

Since I started to look at the issue I have seen nothing that says that there is active work to shut this down. The problem is that the people doing this stuff have moved from decryption to outright destruction. The way things are going the threat is moving past yellow into orange and heading for red with amazing speed.

Apparently ever more enterprises are being hit.

The good news is that security companies and Police agencies are working together on the problem. Also they are taking the matter seriously and being pro active  about actually catching and arresting the people doing this.  Pro action is what’s needed now.  Otherwise it’s just going to get worse. Until something serious breaks.
