The Heart Of The Kennedys

Or the lack of one.  There was something truly bent about that family.

There seemed to be no affection for anyone in that house.  Everybody seemed to be just using everybody else, a trend that continues in that family.  It’s said that fish and families rot from the head and that was certainly the case with the Kennedys. I’ve wondered for a long time how the family got to where it’s been my entire life and this article made things rather clear.

What can it have been like to not have ever, no matter how bad things got, to have been hugged by your mother.  To be seen by your father not as yourself, but only as means to an end. To be encouraged to treat others the same way.  To have to live in a house, when you did, where there is no space that you call yours.  This so much explains so much that I’ve heard and seen about the Kennedys for my entire life.

Perhaps the bigger question is how can you love anything if first you don’t love yourself.  I can’t believe that any of the Kennedy’s would have acted as they did if they had any real feelings of self worth.  I don’t care about them, but the impact that they have had, and continue to have even after they are gone, is hurting the country.  The policies they enacted and the things they did that did not have any consideration beyond immediate political goals are still in place hurting those that can’t fight back.  That’s the Kennedy legacy.

Use and abuse….and the fathers sins shall be upon a family for 7 generations

Eh…I’m no fan of the Kennedys. I think their politics, since the death of JFK, have made this country worse. Certainly the latter generations have used their money and influence in unsavory ways.

But if you read The Patriarch, by David Nasaw, you get a different picture of life inside the family. Joseph Kennedy was pretty much self-made, and he was fairly honest for one who was ruthless and successful in business. He was very business smart, but curiously naive in many ways about politics. FDR played him like a fiddle. He was away from home a lot, but he constantly wrote warm, loving letters to all of his kids. He managed to get wealthy enough to live well, and after that most of his wealth went into trusts for the kids.

The further down the line you got from him, the worse it got, certainly.

Gordon: If you read the truth about Joe Kennedy you will find out that he was a snake. He was self-made by bootlegging and heavily involved in the New York and Chicago Mafia. He had numerous affairs with Hollywood Starlets and had the nerve to bring them home and have his wife Rose cook for him. He also got fired from his job as a Ambassador to England because he thought Hilter was a great guy and could careless what Hitler did to the Jews in Europe. Him and his very wealthy friends were responsible for the Market Crash in the 1920’s which led to the Depression in the 1930’s. Of coure the Kennedys never suffered from that as Joe made millions off the crash he helped make. Actions speak louder the words Honey – the letters meant nothing. Please get a clue.

        Like he said.

ridesdressage: There has never been any evidence that Joseph Kennedy ever did any bootlegging at all. Certainly he was ready when prohibition was repealed, and made millions importing scotch whiskey. But the idea that he was a bootlegger is of fairly recent origin–one author figures it started appearing about 1969. He was known as an upright citizen, and it was important to him that others saw him that way.

He did have affairs with some actresses (Gloria Swanson, among them) which was entirely in character for someone running a movie studio, then or now. He also had an affair with Clair Luce Booth.

His work on Wall Street was entirely legal for the time. Later, when FDR appointed him to head the SEC, Kennedy worked to create rules to make some of the tricks he used earlier illegal. He was effective in the role. Did he cause the crash? No more than some, less than others.

As for his time as ambassador to the court of St. James, he thought he should be negotiating and be the point man for the administration in Europe. FDR, of course, disagreed as did his secretary of state. He was not a fan of Hitler or Mussolini, but did not want to see any American lives forfeit to fight them.

Pretty much all of the money he made, he made honestly. He was a sharp businessman, but that’s not a crime. As I wrote earlier, I’m not a fan of any of them. Certainly the family has used its power and wealth for bad things. But most of what folks dislike about the Kennedys came about after 1960, not before.

“the impact that they have had, and continue to have even after they are gone, is hurting the country.”

Hmm. Could there be any current politician you could say the same of? And of that particular politician, this: ” ‘One ill turn deserves another.’ It would have been a sharper lesson, if only you had given me a little more time and enough men. Still I have already done much that you will find it hard to mend or undo in your lives. And it will be pleasant to think of that and set it against my injuries.” –Saruman, “Return of the King”, “The Scouring of the Shire”

Well Kennedy’s Party DOES seem to attract narcissistic personalities with messianic personalities who seem to build cults of personality. That those types seem to come to bad ends seems to escape them.

I’ve said on many occasions. That filthy Kennedy family is the one family in America with the biggest destructive impact on the traditional American way of life. From the election thief in 1960, whose greatest accomplishment was losing Cuba, to that fat, besotted pig Teddy screwing up our healthcare system to importing millions of lesser forms of life from around the planet to suckle at the teat of the taxpayer.
All while the idiots in Mass treat these vermin like gods.
